Girls Write! is a supportive and empowering environment for girls and nonbinary youth ages 8-12 to explore creative writing, meet other writers, and form a writing community.  This year our theme is World Building, and our sessions include two hike-and-writes! (See full description below.)

When: Sunday afternoons, 1:00–3:30 p.m. Register for any session or the full series!

  • in 2026: October 11, November 15, December 6
  • in 2027: January 10; February 14, March 14, April 11 

Where: Women Writing for (a) Change, 318 S. Washington St., Bloomington, Indiana; Jan. 10 session at Griffy Lake Nature Preserve, and Apr. 11 session at Leonard Springs Nature Park

Cost: Sliding scale

  • Tier 3: $30/session or $210/whole series
  • Tier 2: $20/session or $140/whole series
  • Tier 1: $10/session or $70/whole series
  • Payment plans and tuition assistance are available in addition to the sliding scale; application deadline is two weeks before class start. Apply here.

Girls Write! is a supportive and empowering environment for girls and nonbinary youth ages 8-12 to explore creative writing, meet other writers, and form a writing community. Join us for individual sessions or the whole series!

We will meet on the second Sunday of each month, October through April (except for December, when we will meet on the first Sunday), from 1:00-3:30. Our theme is World Building, and together, we will explore place. We will bookend our Fall and Spring programming with Hike-and-Writes at Lake Griffy and Leonard Springs. Adventure is calling! Sliding scale tuition and financial assistance is available.
