Behind writing, behind words is no words.  We need to know about that place.  It gives us a larger perspective from which to handle language.

The writing helps to empty and settle the mind.  We then can sink into a quiet pool, into silence, out of which all those thoughts were created in the first place.

—Natalie Goldberg, The True Secret of Writing

How can the practices of writing and meditation support and illuminate one another?  Let’s slow down and explore together, using a blend of Women Writing for (a) Change and Zen practices. Beginning writers and meditators are welcome.
We will move through several periods of writing, reading our writing aloud (always optional), sitting meditation (zazen, on a cushion or chair), and walking meditation (kinhin). Instruction will be provided for all of these.
This workshop draws on the work of Natalie Goldberg, who has been integrating writing and Zen for decades and is a foremother of the “fastwrite” process we use at WW(f)aC.
Co-sponsored by Open Mind Zen Indiana.  Participants of any faith, or no faith, are welcome.
Facilitated by Denise Breeden-Ost and Phil Ford.  (In addition to Denise’s bio on our Staff page, see teacher bios here.)
